Hi, I’m Sarah — and until quite recently, I may have felt just like you.
My journey into Functional Nutrition began over ten years ago, when my youngest child was born with a rare metabolic condition called Congenital Sucrase–Isomaltase Deficiency (CSID). This condition prevents the digestion of starches (maltose) and sugar (sucrose)— and in our case, lactose too.
I led the successful diagnosis of her condition and then gently guided her through five years of gut healing and nutritional support. She was, quite literally, my first patient.
Not long after, I faced my own health challenges, including autoimmune issues and gallbladder disease. Through targeted dietary and lifestyle changes, I was able to resolve these conditions — further cementing my belief in the profound impact that food and gut health have on the body.
These experiences led me to retrain in Functional Nutrition, allowing me to combine lived experience with rigorous, science-based training. I wanted to deeply understand how the body functions, how food influences every system, and how personalised nutrition can restore balance and health.
I particularly love working with children — there is nothing quite like seeing them blossom once underlying health issues are addressed. The testing I use is child-friendly and non-invasive, making the process as gentle and stress-free as possible for both children and parents.
I also warmly welcome men into the clinic. The evidence-based testing and clear physiological insights I use often strongly appeal to those who enjoy understanding how their body works — and why it isn’t functioning as it should.
Through my work, I’ve come to see a significant gap between traditional medicine and the real, lived experiences of people with chronic symptoms. A gap that often overlooks what happens along the 8.5 metres of the digestive tract — what goes in at one end, what comes out the other, and everything that happens in between.
Gut health is a vital key to supporting the body to heal from chronic illness — yet it is still largely overlooked in Western medicine.
I have trained under one of the world’s most eminent functional nutritionists, gaining clinical experience in a field I am deeply passionate about. It is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Why?
Because it has led me here — to support and guide people like you. People living with unexplained or persistent health conditions that affect daily life.
If you’re curious about your health, your gut, or how your body should truly work, you’re in the right place.

I use a unique combination of intuitive, detective-style thinking and my signature approach — Metabolome Mastery* — to understand your unique metabolome and uncover the messages your body is holding.
Where appropriate, I use carefully selected, evidence-based testing from top international laboratories alongside a deep understanding of the complex interplay between environmental, emotional, physiological, and genetic factors.
This allows me to help unravel often complex health concerns — particularly those rooted in the gut — that traditional medicine may have overlooked.
I work alongside your existing medical team, taking a root-cause, whole-person approach. Through gentle, natural interventions and personalised diet and lifestyle support, I aim to create the optimal conditions for your body to restore balance, resilience, and
long-term health.
*Metabolome Mastery is my proprietary framework for interpreting metabolic patterns and individual biochemical responses.
We are additionally proud to be partners with Lifecode Gx®. Through our partnership we can use advanced nutrigenomics testing and education grounded in the latest genomics science.
This allows us to take a preventative and personalised approach to health, translating genetic insights into practical, evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle strategies.
Sarah Bicknell is a Certified Practitioner in Functional Health and Nutrition, having trained under the mentorship of Andrea Nakayama of the American Functional Nutrition Lab — a globally respected leader in the field. Sarah blends the rigorous, systems-based approach pioneered by Andrea Nakayama with her own lived experience of medicine and healing, alongside a long‑standing fascination with the botanical world.
This enables her to design highly personalised, natural, and nurturing programmes that respect each client’s individual biochemistry and biological diversity.
She is a Member of the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine and a Member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and continues to work within a strong professional network of leading Functional Nutrition practitioners.
Through regular collaboration with overseas colleagues, Sarah ensures her clients benefit from current, evidence‑informed, and often cutting‑edge practice within the evolving field of Functional Nutrition.
In addition to her clinical practice, Sarah is the founder of Health Network Hub (HNH) — a professional network that brings together experienced practitioners across holistic and functional health disciplines. HNH exists to support collaboration, ongoing professional development, and thoughtful integration of evidence-based and whole-person care.
